Re: may sound stupid but

"Edit" menu
Go to "Preferences"
Select the "Directories" tab.

If you are that short of disk space, you may well get all sorts of problems. I recommend that you free up more disk space.

Re: audacity and protools

By default, Protools uses 16 or 24 bit WAV at either 44.1kHz or 48kHz. Any audio that you record, edit or otherwise process in Audacity, if you Export in one of these formats, it can be imported directly into ProTools. Similarly, audio saved from ProTools as "Microsoft PCM WAV" can be impo...

Re: Unwanted echo effect recording Stereo/mono mix

It doesn't seem to have an option to select "stereo mix" or "mono mix" as input as in Audacity. Ah ha - we may be getting toward the root of the problem. The source selection in Audacity is not always reliable as it depends on the sound card driver "playing by the rules&quo...

Re: Audacity, 2 mics, record in mono? HELP pls.

It's definitely worth upgrading the flash card to a larger capacity. I recently bought a 2 gig card for £10 GBP ($20 US) while on holiday. With more capacity, you can record in better quality (320kbps MP3, or even WAV format). The flash card needs to be reasonable quick to handle the amount of data ...

Re: half a second delay between the speakers and the mixer

I think my problem is my sound card (built into my DELL) doesn;t support hardware playthrough, That will explain it. Therefore I think I may need to buy a USB sound card which supports playthrough. Yes - hardware playthrough. Most USB audio devices, as long as they have both audio inputs and audio ...

Re: Creating Keyboard Shortcuts - Can't Find XML File

If you look in "Edit > Preferences > Keyboard", you will see a list of all available commands that can have keyboard short-cuts. I don't think that current versions of Audacity include an Audacity-keys.xml file by default. To create that file, open the keyboard short-cuts in Preferences (E...

That's not much information to go on - but make sure that you do not have any tracks muted or solo'd.

Re: No waveform when trying to record LP

I'm getting 2 bars each of light and dark red jumping around at what looks to be roughly the -60 mark Audacity is recording something, but it is at such a low level it will appear to be silent. According to a review I found for the Presonus Inspire 1394 interface, the phono input is switchable betw...

Re: Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron - lots of bugs

Apparently this is due to a library conflict in Ubuntu 8.04 which has not been fixed yet. I may have to either downgrade my version of Audacity, or else try to fix the library problem and compile Audacity myself. Please see my previous post in this topic. Audacity 1.3.5 works well in Ubuntu 8.04 no...
