There are many mouse and keyboard shortcuts (see Edit > Preferences).
If you can map your trackpad device to these keys/mouse, then you will be able to use tham.

assuming Audacity is then creating a mono recording on two channels. Perhaps this assumption is wrong? That could be the problem. Audacity 1.2.6 should work with Windows ME. There have been other ME users on this forum that have used it successfully, so it seems that something rather odd is going on. If it IS freeverb that is causing the problem, simply delete the freeverb file from your plug-ins folder.

but without good Jack support, it is close to useless for professional (and even home recording) usage on Linux!! That is very much an exaggeration. I agree that it would certainly be better if Audacity worked with JACK, but it works with ALSA and OSS and it is still the best multi-track audio edit...
