Adjust the recording volume with your sound cards control panel/mixer application.

If you are using a pre-amp or mixing desk, you may have the input gain too low.

Re: "file not well formed in line 6" error?

Lesson to learn - space is regarded as a foreign character! NO. It was not a "space" that was causing the problem, it was ASCII character 01 ASCII character 01 is SOH (Start of heading ) ASCII character 32 (&20 Hex) is a space A space is a valid character, though generally best to be ...

Re: "file not well formed in line 6" error?

It's not actually a space, it is a character, but not a valid one. You need to also change the file that it is referring to so that it matches the information in the AUP file. Hopefully you have not moved or deleted any of the files that the Audacity project refers to. This article gives background ...

6 <tag name="ARTIST" value="Baha Men"/> Note "Baha Men" "Baha Men " At the end of line 6 This looks like the invalid character: between the "n" of "Men" and the quotation mark. I can't tell how it appears on your computer - perhaps as a qu...

Re: can't export to .WAV

You have some work to do on your Windows interface. Audacity 1.2.6 is quite old now (as is Windows ME) and is no longer being developed. All current development is in Audacity 1.3.x beta The next "stable" release of Audacity will be 1.4.0 which will be based on 1.3.x beta I'm glad you've ...

Re: "error while opening sound device"-msg when using digi 0

I doubt that you will get Audacity running with the digi 003. It has been designed to run with, and only with ProTools.
If you find a way to get it working, please do let us know.

Audio that has been recorded with ProTools may be edited in Audacity, and can then be imported back into ProTools.

Re: Dell Inspiron and Latitude Sigma Tel Audio quirks?

I've recently tested a fairly high end Toshiba laptop. The sound quality of the on-board sound is not very good at all. There is noticeable noise with low level audio, and also noticeable "gating" when the audio level drops below a certain level. It is good enough for casual listening thro...

Re: Does Audacity prompt when there are updates?

Audacity does not auto update and does not prompt the user to do so. Version updates are rather infrequent. Audacity 1.0 was released in June 2002 1.2.6 has been the stable version of Audacity for (I would guess) the last couple of years. This version is no longer being developed and will be superse...
