Re: New User (Help!)
I presume that you are not trying to paste stereo audio into a mono track, or mono audio into a stereo track? Stereo audio can only be pasted into a stereo track and mono audio can only be pasted into a mono track.

Re: can't export to .WAV
I agree that it should not happen, but in all of the thousands of posts that I've read on this forum, this is the first time that I've heard of this problem. Also, it is not listed as a known issue, and I would presume that if it were due to an incompatibility with ME, then it would have been discov...

Re: 2 finger trackpad mouse gesture functionality
I've no idea, you will have to look in the manual/instructions/help file for the device. It may not even be possible, but I know that some trackpads include a utility for doing so.ghee wrote:How do I map my trackpad device ?

Re: using effects leads to audacity closing
tried deleting freeverb, used gverb... no joy - audacity still encountered a problem and shutdown. Well that establishes that it is not freeverb causing the problem. Have you manually installed any other plug-ins? There can be problems with the VST enabler if you have any incompatible VST effects o...

Re: Program Locks/stops redrawing after playback
I've now found that I occasionally get a lock up after playback, but clicking on the "zoom to all" button unfreezes it.

Re: Installing Help Files
I don't use Macs, but I guess that as a workaround you could just create a desktop shortcut to the index page of the help files. Since the help files are in HTML format, they just open in your web browser, so another option would be to make a bookmark/favourite to the index page in your web browser.

Re: Recording from YouTube (quality)
The recording volume is set by your computer sound system, not by Audacity (although on some computers the mixer toolbar in Audacity can send requests to the sound card driver to tell it to increase/decrease the recording/playback level - however, it is still the sound card driver that actually make...

Re: 1.3.6 problem with Win98
I was about to say that the most recent beta version was Audacity 1.3.5, but I see that you are really on the ball and have picked up the 1.3.6 version that was released yesterday. I've not had chance to look at this yet, but when you say that it does not run, could you give a bit more information -...

Re: Pitch Effect question
That sounds like a Vocoder effect to me. Very similar to what you were describing in terms of how you use it - you need 2 tracks, the vocal track and a tone track. You then apply the vocoder to the two tracks and it makes a kind of modulation of the two tracks (its distinctly different from other ki...

Re: Amplifying individual instruments in songs.
Have a play with the "Equalizer" effect.
You may be able to suppress some of the other sounds to some extent and bring out the drums a bit more.
