Re: Removing channel 1 audio that has leaked into channel 2

In Audacity, click on the name of the 2 channel track and from the drop down menu select "Split Stereo Track". You will now have 2 single channel tracks. Click on the name of one of the tracks and from the drop down menu select "Mono", then repeat with the other track. Now use th...

Re: WAV file OK, double-speed MP3

I generally export from Audacity as WAV, burn a copy to CD as a backup, then use LameDrop (a free mp3 encoder that is quick and easy to use) to convert from WAV to MP3. iTunes could also be used for the encoding, or any one of the other mp3 encoders available.

Re: tempo change gradually

I have no practictical experience of tis , but I seem to remeber from reading earlier postings that you can do this in Audacity by adding a Time Track to your recording Tracks > Add New > Time Track. Yes indeed - and it is very easy to use. When you create a time track, there is a horizontal blue l...

Re: error message

You can do this by saving your totally empty project, prior to recording, to it's target projectname destination. This is often recommended as "best practice" anyway. I'm not sure that it is recommended as a "best practice", but it is a very handy way of keeping an eye on the te...

Re: How to install audacity on linux xandrox?

You should be able to install Audacity 1.2.6 with your package manager.
If you want to install Audacity 1.3.x see here: http://eeesite.net/2007/11/how-to-run-a ... ee-pc.html

Re: Green bar prevents playback...

First make sure that you still have plenty of free disk space.
Try clicking the "Fit Project" zoom button so that the whole project is visible.
If that doesn't free it up, try rebooting.

Re: 1.3.3 beta records 1/2 step low

See if you can record at 48000 Hz (by setting the default in Audacity's Preferences).
If you need to Export at 44100 Hz, use the "Project Rate" box in the lower left of the main Audacity screen to change to 44100 before you Export.
