Re: Voice stress analysis

Not wanting to detract from your suggestion, but with all these ideas that you are coming up with, I think you should start looking at developing your own plug-ins. I've been playing around with Nyquist for a little while now, and even though I have virtually zero previous experience in programming,...

Re: Isolate sound reverse noise removal

That sounds like a similar idea to the "Extraboy" plug-in.

Improving Noise removal

AHA - SO I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!! No your not. As I said in my first post, the noise reduction in Audacity 1.3.x is usually better, but not always. I've found some clarification on what koz was saying about them both being based on the same code. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Noise_Rem...

Re: Recording 4 Channels at Once - Delta 44

Thanks for reporting your results.
Several people have asked about the M-Audio Delta 44, so it's good to have confirmation that it can work, even if it's a bit fiddly to get started.

Re: Record and Edit Songs at Same Time

Interesting to read your take on it Gale. Regarding other operating systems, the only time I've had a major crash on my Linux machine was when running two instances of Audacity - could have been coincidence, but I'm not tempted to try it again. On the other hand, I can run Audacity in Linux and anot...

Re: configuring audacity-1.3.6

I'm certainly no expert in this sort of thing, but I did succeed in building Audacity 1.3.6 from source in Ubuntu. I have: WXWidgets 2.8.7.1 libmad0 and libmad0-dev libsndfile1 and libsndfile1-dev libogg0 and libogg0-dev I had the source file in a folder in my home directory, then opened a terminal ...

Re: are there electronic instruments?

Audacity only has simple tone generators, noise generators, and in Audacity 1.3.6 a few other simple sounds built in as standard. However, if your sound card is able to record "stereo mix", then you will be able to record any stand alone virtual instruments with Audacity. Also, you can imp...

Re: pitch/speed bend

I mean, if you want that the pitch of the selected segment will bend X notes up/down? (like a siren sound) This is possible using Nyquist functions, though I don't know of any plug-ins that have been written yet to do this. Re: No sound for my Ubuntu 8.04 Laptop

Install ALSA if you have not already, then set the recording and playback devices to "ALSA default".
If you have JACK installed, make sure that it is not running as that is likely to cause problems.

Re: Record and Edit Songs at Same Time

Do you mean that you want to record the ION TT with one program, and at the same time you want to edit a different audio file with Audacity? If so, then yes it is theoretically possible, but you should not be surprised if one of them messes up - most likely the recording. Editing and recording audio...
