the file is called audacity.cfg
It is not normally in: /usr/
it is usually in: ~/.audacity-data

Check that JACK is not running (stop it if it is).
Delete the audacity.cfg from ~/.audacity-data

Re: Multi-tracking problem: trk1 copies onto trk2

The "Tips" and "Tutorials" in the Audacity wiki (link at top of page) are a very good place to get started in Audacity. Everyone should have a quick read of these:

Re: Troubles getting to record.

Do you want to give a bit more information?
What exactly is this phono/USB cable that you have?
Are you using Vista?
Have you checked in the Windows Control Panel as per the instructions on the Vista page of the wiki?

Re: Speed Issue

When I import an audio file (mp3) into a new track and try to copy and paste part of it into another track, the speed of the inserted portion changes...sometimes faster, sometimes slower. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? You are copying audio data that is at one sample rate and pasting it into a ...

Re: Troubles getting to record.

Do a search on the Audacity wiki (link at top of page) for USB
Also if you are using Vista, look that up as well - there's some information that is specific to Vista.
