Re: Compressor hangs in 1.3.6 on Vista
When I first installed Audacity 1.3.6 (upgrading from 1.3.5) I had a similar problem but with Audacity crashing when using any kind of compressor effects. I deleted the audacity.cfg file to reset Audacities preferences and that seems to have fixed it. By default that file will be a hidden file in &q...

Re: can't play a file i imported
You are trying to play a file that is in an unsupported format (probably a wma, AC4, MP4 or something). You need to decode the file into a supported format. On Windows there is a free program called SUPER by erightsoft that should be able to convert it.

Re: USB Turntable - No Bass
after recording i run it through the eq using the riaa You should not need to do that when using the USB connector. Re: Can't export recorded file as an MP3
Also, as I mentioned, exporting as a WAV file is not possible -- Audacity disappears as soon as I try it, just like when I try to export as an MP3 file. Ah, we missed that point - probably because of the title ("Audacity disappears when trying to Export" may have been a more apt title). H...

Re: suggestions on this vocal sample
You need to get a better microphone. That sounds like it was recorded with a cheap headset microphone or a computer mic. The saying about silk purses and pigs ears comes to mind. Note also that the microphone inputs on computers are typically very poor quality, so either, a better microphone and a m...

Re: Can't export recorded file as an MP3
You could try downloading a new copy of LAME (see the Audacity wiki - link at top of page - for the correct version/download location) Then reset the Audacity preferences (again, details in the Audacity wiki. Search for "Preferences"). Then manually set Audacity to use the new downloaded l...

Re: Need help
! The file you are attempting to play has an extension (.wmv) that does not match the file format. The file has been incorrectly named as .wmv when it is not a .wmv file. Use SUPER from erightsoft (free software) to look at the properties of the file and find out what kind of file it really is, the...
