In Audacity 1.3.6 you can create a "time track".
The "time track" provides a control track for playback speed.

Choose the appropriate version of Audacity and download it.
Copy the downloaded file onto a disk or memory stick.
Take the disk/memory stick home and copy the downloaded file to your computer and install it.

Not in Audacity - look for a loudspeaker icon near the system clock. You should find the settings in there.

Use the volume sliders on the left side of each of the tracks to lower the volume of each track. When you play two or more tracks at the same time, the sounds are added together, and can cause the resulting "mix" to be too loud and distort.
