Re: Limit on length of recording

(no idea what Linux is?) Well this is going a little off the point, but Linux is an "operating system". Examples of other operating systems are "Windows XP", "Windows Vista", "DOS", "OSX Leopard". The first two are probably the most familiar, and ar...

Nice :)
I'd not come across that before, but it works pretty well.

Yet another option is to use TiMidity++ to directly render the MIDI file as a WAV.

Re: How do you use Plug Ins?

There's quite a few VST plug-ins that can cause problems - more info here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=VST_Plug-ins I find that I can do everything without needing to use VST plug-ins and that saves a lot of headaches. If you decide not to use VST, remove the VST bridge from the plu...

Re: Limit on length of recording

Is the 1.3 version free too? Yes it is. It is described as the "beta" version and warns that there may be bugs in it because it is the version that is currently being developed. That should not put you off though - it is a late beta version (not far from the new 1.4 release) and is pretty...

Re: Limit on length of recording

Subject to hardware, which mostly means having enough unfragmented free disk space, Audacity should be able to record tracks that are several hours long. I'm not sure how accurate the "available space" indication is in Audacity 1.2.6 - best to check the free space in "My Computer"...

Re: How do you use Plug Ins?

Its a shame Audacity doesnt have a chorus and distortion effect as these are the 2 main ones I miss. You're a guitarist? Strangely enough, distortion is an effect that I almost never use software for - there are very few software distortion effects that I like - I prefer to use hardware distortion ...

Re: Problem: Program fell down and I lost my aup..

Manually restoring an Audacity project is a lot of work and often fails, but it can sometimes work. See here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery Do we know why Audacity "fell down"? Have you got plenty of free disk space? If you have run short of disk space then you...
