Re: Changing pitch causes track to not line up

There are two different effects that change the pitch - "Change Speed" and "Change Pitch". The former will change the length, the latter should not (or at least, not much).

Re: Recording always sounds like it is underwater

You will need to carefully examine your sound card settings - They may be applying some effects to your recorded sounds before they get to Audacity.

Re: How to have equal stereo sound

You may have your speakers wired incorrectly. Each speaker has 2 wires - they may be marked red and black. You can think of it as +ve and -ve (though that's not completely accurate). It is important that the +ve and -ve of each speaker is wired the same way round as on the other speaker, otherwise t...

Re: Use chains to export MP3's to the same directory?

So is iTunes overwriting the id3 tags? If so; Ensure that iTunes is closed Run your chain commands Move the Mp3's from the Cleaned folder to their original folder (overwriting the originals if you wish, but note that these MP3's will be lower quality than the originals) Open iTunes and check the met...

Re: Automatic noise reduction when recording?

<<<are a massive improvement on the built in sound card.>>> ...in a PC. Koz Yes, I hear that Mac laptops have quite good sound cards, but this is "just a Dell D420 laptop". Also, a good friend of mine has a Toshiba that's about 5 or 6 years old now, and the on-board sound card is very nic...

Re: Guitar recording-programs

On a PC, Audacity partially supports some VST plugins. Audacity does not fully support VST graphical interfaces - you just get a list of sliders, not the usual pretty VST interfaces. More information here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=VST_Plug-ins You need to be careful if using VST ...

Re: wxwidgets

I wouldn't bother trying to compile Audacity 1.2.x - it's very old now and things have moved on a long way (especially in the Linux desktop world). I have successfully built Audacity 1.3.6 on Ubuntu using WxWidgets 2.8 Some information that may help: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Deve...

Re: How do I Install the help files?

I just bookmarked the on-line manual in my web browser: http://audacityteam.org/manual/index.php?title=Main_Page After a couple of days using Audacity I found that I very rarely needed it, so I was quite pleased that I had not bothered to install it. Other really useful bookmarks: http://audacitytea...

Re: computer crashed before recording saved

Unfortunately, crash recovery was not very good in the old 1.2.x version (much improved in the latest beta versions). You may find some information to help here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery Your chances of recovering the project are probably not very good, but it may b...
