Before you export, zoom out and check the length of all tracks - if you have anything, even silence, after the end of your recording, then it will be included in the Exported audio.
Alternatively, select the exact area of the track(s) that you want to Export, and use "Export Selection".

Re: audio import options apparently not recognised
The Windows Recorder works fine Good. Check it again to make sure that you have not altered anything, then close WSR and open Audacity. Click on "Edit > Preferences" Go to the "Audio I/O" tab and select "Microsoft Sound Mapper" as the recording device and the playback ...

Re: Importing a WAV file
I imported a tune from a CD to itunes. When I attempt to import that trac into Audacity as "Import Audio" the 3 minute tune converts to 5 seconds of total music. You have still not converted it to WAV format. iTunes probably defaults to AC3 or some other format, you must ensure that the f...

Re: Multivoice Chorus
This plug-in was not specifically designed for Audacity, but it seems to work in a fashion. I'm using Audacity 1.3.6 on Linux. I'm not sure if it is a design feature, or a peculiarity of running this plug-in in Audacity, but I notice that voice number 1 is the original sound, and that the other voic...

Re: an option to lower pitch slowly
All you need is the Envelope tool That is for lowering the volume slowly, not the pitch. To lower the pitch gradually you need to use Audacity 1.3.x and add a time track. You can then use the envelope tool in the time track to adjust the speed ("Mix and Render" the track to make the pitch...

Re: increasing gain: hardware or software?
Stop using a PC? Nobody is going to throw awards at PC sound card makers for their high quality and superior performance. Something about nobody willing to paying more than $12 for a sound card. PC's are capable of extremely high quality sound and can out perform a standard Mac audio interface. How...

Re: Audacity =Dying, please help - and quickly! :(
The most likely cause is that your sound card has died / is dying. The displacement away from the zero line is usually a symptom of damaged components on the sound card. Is there any way that you can test your sound card, or try a different sound card in your computer? We had 1 case (one) where some...
