Re: When i take out my backround noise the track sounds weir

But you said something about hiting 0 on the red bar and i'm only hitting -6 and my input is all the way up what should i do You should never hit 0 on the red bar - as soon as you do you will get distortion. -6dB should be fine. You can increase it to 0dB (I usually go a little lower, say -0.3dB) b...

Re: Buzz

It sounds like you have a bad earth connection somewhere, or have unshielded cable connecting the sound source to the sound card - somewhere along the line you are picking up "mains hum" interference.

How are you recording? What's your set-up? (sound card. microphone, etc)

Re: soundcard response to too-high bit depth settings

The recorded data will, if necessary, be resampled to the format that you have selected. I think that this is normally handled by the sound card driver rather than by Audacity. Resampling to a higher bit depth will not improve (or reduce) the sound quality, but will allow editing and processing to b...

Re: Rewire & Audacity

Would it not be possible to develop something like a closed-code Rewire plugin that isn't a part of Audacity and is kept on a seperate server etc etc but which, on installation, does something to enable Audacity to use (for example) a closed-code proprietary library that enables it to work with Rew...

Re: Repairing corrupted .wav file?

You could try SUPER from erightsoft - it is a free format transcoding program for Windows.
If SUPER is able to open the file, you should be able to output from SUPER as a correctly formatted WAV file.

Re: Audio Recording Problem, can it be fixed in Audacity?

At the bottom (the audio i have highlighted), the peak amplitudes seem to be consistently shifted down... It is not at all uncommon for audio to not be symmetrical - it frequently happens when using high pass filters (which will part of the circuitry in your pre-amp). The sound recorded is quite a ...

Re: Adjusting volume within a track

As Koz says - the "Envelope Tool" is the right tool for the job. You can get the envelope tool by pressing the F2 key - Press the F1 key to go back to the normal "selection tool".
