I have upgraded to a Heil PR40 microphone and as a result needed a better sound interface and selected the Presonus Firebox. I guess that it depends on which Digidesign device you have, but some of them (such as the 003) use proprietary drivers that will only work with "approved" software (such as ProTools). I think it's their way of making sure that you buy from them.
