Re: Audacity 1.3.6 -- whistles when exporting to MP3
There has been a spate of problems with LAME in Audacity recently - Unlike other MP3 encoders, LAME is still being developed. I think that for a while the Audacity web site was linking to Lame v 3.98 but this had some problems, so they have gone back to v.3.97 The current version of Lame is 3.98.2 w...

Re: Disk space remaining for recording
Three methods: 1) Delete a load of unused files - uninstall unwanted programs, delete or transfer to CD/DVD old pictures, movie downloads, music files, delete old Audacity projects, on a Windows PC this could also include old restore points. 2) Upgrade your hard drive to a bigger one, or add an exte...

Re: Bug? Channels available in 1.2.6 are missing in 1.3 beta
It looks like the new version is no longer correctly supporting your sound card. It is probably worth reporting the problem by following the instructions here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Reporting_Bugs Be sure to give all the details that are asked for on that page, and mention whi...

Re: Plot Spectrum - Peak or RMS?
Can anyone tell me if the resulting spectra are peak or RMS? Its not either. They are window functions. The mathematics are rather complicated, but they give a good indication of relative levels without needing to get involved with the complexities of Fast Fourier Transforms. http://en.wikipedia.or...

Re: HELP ! AUdacity 1.2.6 causing system crash
Try resetting the preferences in Audacity using the special tool: 1. Go to, http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/audacity.html scroll to the bottom of the page and right-click over "Audacity 1.2.6 reset Preferences .reg file for Windows" 2. Save this .reg file to your drive 3. Double-click the sa...
Re: Questions
Probably the best thing is to download and install Audacity 1.3.6 onto your computer (it has a lot of improvements over the old 1.2 version). It is free, and is available by following the links from the main Audacity site: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Then have a look at the "Tips" an...

Re: Repairing dropouts
You could try applying a short cross-fade from the original, to the track with the "patch" and back again.
Probably easier to do in Audacity 1.3.6 than the 1.2 version.

Re: Latest FFMPEG strange behavior under Ubuntu Hardy
It's not that I'm not interested, it's that I don't know the answer.
Good luck with getting it working, I'm watching this topic with interest (I'm another Ubuntu user).
