Re: Incorrect Song Length

There are several variations of the MP3 format. As well as different compression levels (kbps), they can be mono, joint stereo, stereo, CBR, VBR, or ABR, and can be at different bit-rates. The website that you are trying to upload to may be expecting a specific format, in which case you will need to...

Re: Stealth Plug

I neglected to mention that I am running Windows XP. ... I should probably mention, too, that I have the stable version of Audacity and not the Beta version. That's why we have a "Windows" section on the forum, and separate sub-sections for Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x Close all applications....

Re: Bug? Channels available in 1.2.6 are missing in 1.3 beta

Assuming you are using 1.3.6, this is a "known issue" mentioned in README.txt in the Audacity installation folder, and in the online version. Thanks Gale - I was looking in the wrong place for " know issues ", but now I see there is a link to the release notes page that you ment...

Is your USB device being detected by Windows? Click on the "safely remove hardware" icon and check that the device is listed.

Re: Unable to install - Vista 64bit Premium Home

Although 1.3.x is still officially called "beta" (and will be so called until the release of Audacity 1.4), it is a late beta, and is pretty stable. Audacity 1.2.x is now very old and is running into various problems with newer hardware and software. There is no development being done on A...

Re: HELP ! AUdacity 1.2.6 causing system crash

I have 1 exclamation point next to the Microsoft Kernel Audio Splitter entry in Device Manager under Sound I did a Google search and came across a suggestion to re-install the Microsoft Kernel Audio Splitter. See here for details: http://forums.driverguide.com/showthread.php?t=6435 Also, do you hav...

Re: Automatic track splitting

As with all effects and many other operations, you must have some audio selected that the effect is going to operate on. To select a complete track, click on the box at the left side of the track.

Re: Plugin I coded gaves me the error "Nyquist returned 4410

I'm not an expert with Nyquist, but I may be able to give a few pointers: "Do" loops - a simple example which will hopefully make the syntax a bit more clear: ;; (do (binding...) (texpr rexpr...) expr...) ;; "Binding" using a list of the form: (sym init [step]) where: ;; sym - is...

Re: Help needed to monitor prior to recording

Follow the instructions in this tutorial: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer and make sure that your microphone is muted. If you are on Windows, in Audacity Preferences (in the "Edit" menu), look in the Audio I/O tab and make sure that &quo...

Re: Recording shuts off after 15 mins.

Check your power management settings. If your computer was going to sleep, or switching over to a screen saver, that could cause a problem. When recording, it is generally best to set your computer to presentation mode (always on and no screen saver).
