Re: record control
Have a look for buttons for "Options" or "Advanced". Some of the settings are often hidden by default.

Re: Ubuntu 8.10 no sound
Is there a way to play them simultaneously? They will both play together on my computer (I've got an old SoundBlaster Live (value) sound card). I notice that, unlike Audacity, there seems to be no way to control what output Rhthymbox uses - at least not through the graphical interface. If you keep ...

Re: l and r editing
You need to split the stereo track.
Click on the little arrow next to the track name and you will get a drop down menu.
Once the track is split, you can edit left and right independently.
When you Export your finished audio file, the tracks will be mixed back into a stereo file.

You're welcome. It's good to see some interest in Nyquist. It's a fantastic, but it seems mostly neglected, feature of Audacity.
I've got a few Nyquist projects of my own on the go at the moment. I hope to be able to reveal some results early in the new year.

Re: Buzz
Personally I much prefer internal PCI sound cards to external USB sound cards. Internal PCI sound cards are not to be confused with the cheap and nasty internal sound cards that are often included on motherboards these days. Sound cards that are specifically designed for music will tend to be higher...

Re: Voice effects to simulate techniques used in video games
There are virtually limitless changes that you can make to a voice using the effects in Audacity - also look in the wiki (link at top of page) for "LADSPA plug-ins" and "Nyquist plug-ins". These extend the types of effects that are available. (the LADSPA and Nyquist effects tend ...

Re: Ubuntu 8.10 no sound
Thanks to sound card manufacturers not supporting Linux, it frequently takes a lot of messing around in the volume control to get it working, even after you've found a setting that does not give the "Error while opening sound device". On a default install, the volume control is accessed by...

I have the exact same problem as the poster, I think that the original poster had downloaded the wrong version of Lame. Follow the links on this page carefully to make sure that you get the right version for your computer: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Lame_Installation Follow the in...
