Re: How could i clean up my voice to sound like....

So when you perform for real you sound great? Do you have recordings of this not made by you? Yes i do have recordings why? And do you sound great on those recordings? I think that the point that Koz is making is that it your voice will always sound different to yourself to what a recording sounds ...

Re: Can't hear while recording

From an "ease of use" point of view you have the worst of two worlds. Vista does not make it easy to set up your sound card for recording. "Realtek High Definition Audio" uses a custom (non-standard) interface. On an XP machine with a "standard" sound card, you would go...

Re: menu wont work on Audiacty 1.3.4-beta

You need to select some audio before many of the menu items become available.
To select part of one or more tracks, click and drag over the track(s).
To select a complete track, click on the box on the left side of the track.
To select All, press Ctrl+A.

Re: Generate Silence

It seems that the noise is created during the MP3 encoding process. What level of hiss are you talking about? If you import the track back into Audacity and zoom in on the vertical scale (click on the vertical scale) do you have a noticeably wiggly line in places where it should be silent? Does thi...

Re: Question about creating audiobook

but as Koz is fond of pointing out - Audacity projects are not production files - theye are an audio development environment. I would much rather have 10 x 1 hour Audacity projects (leading to 60 x 10 minute WAV files) than 1 x 10 hour project (leading to 60 x 10 minute WAV files). Handling and pro...

How about just having a different Audacity project for each chapter?

Re: Cross Fades

What I am wondering is do I have to create a new track in order to cross fade, creating fade ins and outs or can I just cut the audio, highlight a section and create a cross fade? Thanks.... You can do it in one, or in two tracks. You can do it using a "destructive" fade (from the effects...

Re: Highering The pitch

Raising pitch (without changing tempo) is an imperfect process - Audacity has to chop the recording into lots of little pieces, speed up the individual bits, pad them out, and splice them all back together again. This inevitably causes changes to the sound. Changing the pitch just a little (one or t...

Re: Generate Silence

Exporting silence as MP3 may introduce a very very low level of hiss, but it should be virtually inaudible (around -70dB or less). It is more likely that the background hiss that you can hear is from your amplifier or sound card. As WC says, I'm not sure why you need to generate silence for this. If...
