Re: Backward Compatibility
Audacity 1.2.6 will open Audacity 1.2.2 projects. Audacity 1.3.x will open Audacity 1.2.x projects. but Audacity 1.2.x can not open Audacity 1.3.x projects. Before attempting to back up or move Audacity projects (.AUP files and associated data folder), make sure that you read and understand this art...

Re: Algorithm behind the sound manipulations
A good place to start would be with the Nyquist plug-in effects. They are often quite well documented/commented and they can be opened in any text editor so you can see exactly what is in them. There is some information in the Audacity wiki (link at top of page) about the Nyquist programming languag...

Re: Strange ERROR message
It means that it can't find the help file.
In a short while you won't need the help file, so why not just use the on-line help manual: http://audacityteam.org/help/documentation
There are also some very useful tips and tutorials in the Audacity wiki (see link at top of page).

Re: dead space at end of imported wavs
Could you post a screenshot.milsam wrote:When I import wavs, they all have extra dead space at the end. It's a lighter shade of grey than where the file actually exists, and has no wav form in it. The cursor stops when it gets to it.

Re: Best USB Mike
For recording vocals and acoustic instruments, the Samson C01U and C03U get good reviews. If you are in Europe, the German company Thomann do some good "T-Bone" (their own brand) USB large diaphragm condenser microphones that offer very good value for money. Large diaphragm condenser micro...

I wouldn't expect much from a turntable with built in speakers - the old Dansette's were fun, but hardly great quality sound.

It's a shame that you are on Windows and not Linux - there's some really good (free) midi and score writing software available for Linux. Perhaps when you have more time

Re: Recording from inside the computer and Audacity
Oh, man, I really apologize! I was confused once again Don't worry about it - those interfaces can be quite confusing, and some of the settings can be hidden. Have a good look round it and see what you can find. When you think that you have found all of the available ins and outs (recording and pla...
