Re: How do I get the bass down from this live track?

If I do amplify, how do I really avoid clipping? By default the Amplify effect will not allow you to amplify so much that it causes clipping. (as long as you do not tick the "Allow Clipping" box in the Amplify tool) Generally it is best to always leave a little "headroom" (keep ...

Re: Export to MP3 loses channel synch

I used Change Tempo instead of Change Speed because I assumed that I didn't want to change the pitch. It may not make a noticeable difference. Do you think that Change Speed might work better? If the clock speed of the recording devices do not match, then they are in effect running at slightly diff...

Re: Distortion in Windows Media Player after making edits in

Choosing a specific Export format is a lot easier n Audacity 1.3.x than in the older 1.2.x as you can now select the Export format through the options in the Export dialogue window (At the time that you export, you can select the Export format). To set the sample rate of your exported file, use the ...

Re: Compare to Reaper?

It will probably be worth you using Audacity 1.3.6 rather than the old 1.2.6 version. 1.3.6 is pretty stable and has a lot of improvements - it will be the basis of the new 1.4 version when it is released. A good place to start is with the Tips and Tutorials section of the Audacity wiki (see link at...

Re: Removing cross fade

You can set labels at appropriate places within the cross fade, then use "Export Multiple".

You will not be able to "un-cross-fade" the ends of each piece.

Re: Export to MP3 loses channel synch

The reason that there is a difference in length between the two recording is that the two recording devices were not running at exactly the same speed. Computer sound cards and digital recorders are usually fairly accurate, but they are only as accurate as the clock chip that they use. Domestic grad...

Re: Compare to Reaper?

It is a different sort of program. Reaper is a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). Audacity is a multi-track audio editor. Audacity and Reaper complement each other very well. You can use Reaper with ASIO devices, and VST plug-ins, and you can use Audacity along side it for editing the sounds that you ...

Re: Cisco Phone Prompts and WAV U-Law format

I'd love to know if there is a way to set up the "8 Bit, Mono 7kb/sec" I presume that you men as an Export format? If you Export a mono file in MP3 format, then it will be exported in mono. 7kbps is a non-standard bit rate for MP3's and as far as I know it is not supported. In Audacity 1....

Re: Custom Tempo?

Some time ago, I posted a "feature request" for Audacity, which was to be able to customise the time line, and the "time format" (displayed in the selection toolbar in Audacity 1.3.x) so that it can be set to show "bars and beats" rather than seconds/samples/frames. Thi...
