Re: Need Some Really Good Speakers
There are some speakers in that price range that are described as "studio monitors", but they are not. Basically the problem is that full range loudspeakers with a reasonably flat response cost more than that to make. I have tried several of the little "studio monitors" in the su...

Re: WAV files will not burn
I highlight the track and use save selection as WAV. You mean that you Export the selection as WAV. Audacity "Saves" projects and "Exports" audio files - this is a common cause of confusion, so using the correct terminology helps to keep it clear. but once it comes time to try a...

Re: Can the High-Pass Filter damage your hearing?
The chances of damaging your hearing is probably much greater if you are using headphones than if you are using normal domestic loudspeakers. Loudspeakers will often roll off extreme frequencies at both the high and low ends, and as Koz has said, the tweeters will suddenly stop working (permanently)...

Re: Cleaning Up A Cassette Rip. HELP.
If you find that the noise reduction in 1.2.6 works better on this particular example than the noise reduction in 1.3.x, perhaps you could let Dominic know: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic ... 010#p30888

Re: FFT Size. Global?
I think it just changes the display, but makes no difference to the audio.
Increasing the number of bands also makes refreshing of the display take longer, but that is probably not very noticeable on a fast machine.

Re: Export Selection produces tracks out of sync./ wrong len
I appreciate you taking the time to type all of that up TSMusic, but it does not help me to reproduce the problem. By the way, which version of Audacity are you using? To fault find this problem I need you to give me an precise example of how to produce the problem. For example; 1) Create mono track...

Re: bug report - editing wav while changing view junks file
It sounds to me like the project is damaged before you are doing the select/zoom/play business. You may not be "using" Audacity projects, but Audacity does. Audacity does not work directly on audio files, it converts them into projects. If you mess around with the data that the project is ...

Re: Recording Techniques
You should be using the "Line in" connector, which is usually colour coded as light blue.
Check your hardware documentation - a few cards do not use the correct colour codes.
Putting a line level signal into a microphone input can in some cases destroy the input circuitry.

Re: Recording other tracks although it should not
Make sure that you have selected "Line in" as the recording source in your RealTek AC97 control panel (or the Windows Mixer, if available). (The sound card control panel controls the sound card through the sound card drivers. Audacity just tries to access the sound card settings, but many ...

Re: Generation Loss in AUP to WAV to Aup to Wav?
I'm not entirely sure what using 32-bit buys in this case. Not very much, and the cost is 2 x the disk space of 16 bit files. However there is a marginal benefit in that Audacity works internally at 32 bit, so processes such as amplifying are virtually lossless. Whenever there is a conversion from ...
