Re: Recording only records 600ms
You're doing well - most Linux users can't get Audacity to work with JACK at all.
Using Audacity with JACK is a well known problem area and many of us are hoping that JACK support will improve in the future.

Re: Snap to ...
In Audacity 1.3.6 you can "snap to" seconds, milliseconds, film frames, NTSC frames, PAL frames.... depending on the units that are selected in the selection toolbar. There is also a "gentle snapping" to the ends of audio clips when "snap to" is not selected. This shows...

Re: Audacity will not start after installing
Check in the Windows Control Panel that you have a recording source available.
When you have an available recording input, find the file "audacity.cfg" and delete it.
Now try and run Audacity 1.3.x

Re: Electric pop?
Make sure that you have plenty of free disk space.
Defragment your hard drive.
Temporarily switch off Windows update.
Check that your Anti-virus program is not causing the problem (to test, unplug from the internet and switch off your anti-virus).
I assume that you are not using a USB microphone.

Re: Can't adjust input volume
Use the Control Panel to adjust the recording level. Some sound card drivers just ignore Audacity.

Re: Ogg Vorbis import problem
What program was the ogg file created with?
Does the file play correctly? If so, in what player?
Perhaps you can convert the file into a WAV file with SUPER or FooBar 2000, then import the WAV file into Audacity.

Re: Mixtape Label Challange!
Nero can do gap-less CD tracks very easily - I think all versions of Nero can do this, even the cheap "Nero Essentials" (but if you are going to buy it, check that it can before you buy).

Perhaps an obvious question, but do you have write permissions for /sbin/myfile_data ?

Re: phantom power
The specification for the SM86 states that phantom power should be in the range 11 to 52 Volt DC. The load impedance should be at least 600 Ohm. Most stand-alone microphone pre-amps that have phantom power, and mixing desks (if they have phantom power) should meet these requirements, but check the s...
