@ Farsideout, it is most likely that you have made a data CD and not an audio CD.
to both of you - do you have Administrative privileges on your computers? By default normal accounts do not have the necessary rights to burn CD's on Windows. (Nero provide a utility to extend burn rights to all users).

Re: Recording only records 600ms
Do the guys from JACK already know this? Probably. It's ironic that Audacity is the best audio editor on Linux, and JACK is just amazing, but getting them to work together has always been a problem. There are actually 3 parts to the equation: Audacity, Jack and Portaudio. How I wish they could get ...

Re: Just upgraded: 1.2 -> 1.3 Beta... Nice!
A couple of other features in 1.3 that you might like "smart recording" so that if you are recording a vinyl record (for example), the recording will automatically pause at the end of the record (assuming that your turntable automatically lifts the arm at the end). Improved Equalizer (tho...

Re: Cleaning Up A Cassette Rip. HELP.
The "tone" that is present from the beginning was probably there on the original recording. The pink noise is pretty typical tape hiss and is present to some degree on all cassette recordings, though some types of tape (chrome tape and metal tape) generally have better signal to noise than...

Re: ANDing / XORing two almost identical tracks
Unfortunately the logic does not wok out - What you are asking for is basically the same as "vocal isolation" as opposed to "vocal removal" (something that is frequently requested, but the logic does not work out). "And"ing the tracks will give yo a mono track that incl...

Re: Sound problems on 2nd track
Does Audacity 1.2.6 have "Conversion" settings in the "Quality" tab of preferences (like Audacity 1.3.x)?
If so, then the "Real Time" settings should be set for "Fast Sinc Interpolation" and "Dither"="none".

Re: Cleaning Up A Cassette Rip. HELP.
Since this is the "Audio Processing" section rather than "Windows" or "Mac", I'll use Linux. This is from using the stand-alone audio cleaner in Ubuntu (Gnome Wave Cleaner 0.21-05). I amplified it a bit first, then de-clicked it, then de-noised. I wasn't sure if the &qu...

Using a watch and counting is probably the most accurate.

Re: Select All of One Track
In Audacity 1.3.5 (Linux) you can click below the track name (above the "solo" and "mute" buttons) to select the track.
(Shift+Click will toggle track selection - quite handy if you want to select tracks 1 and 3)

Re: mic input
Audacity 1.2.6 is born with mono recording selected - I think 1.3.6 is born with stereo.
