Re: Export Selection produces tracks out of sync./ wrong len

This Forum, which is what I think Steve is basing his judgement on, deals with all types of queries, and users posting here who are digitising recorded media and podcasting greatly outnumber users doing multi-track recording. It could be though that a slightly lower proportion of our users are reco...

Re: Sound problems on 2nd track

I'm still a bit surprised to have not come across this before, given how common Sigmatel inbuilt devices are. There have been a lot of miscellaneous driver type problems reported on Vista SP1 and 64 bit Vista that have been fixed as soon as the user switches from Audacity 1.2 to Audacity 1.3 In thi...

Re: HOW TO REACH AN ALL PRO STANDARD WITH AUDACITY SOFTWARE

Do you also have a "pop shield" (blast shield)? These are invaluable for voice recording as they prevent your breath from hitting the microphone directly and prevent damage to your recording that is difficult to repair later. It is always better to fix problems at source, before they happe...

Re: Cleaning Up A Cassette Rip. HELP.

This is an interesting example for "audio restoration" as it contains several problems: There is "broadband noise" ("pink" noise containing frequencies right across the audio spectrum). There are a couple of distinct tones, that could be "notch filtered" out, ...

Re: WAV files will not burn

There is a marginal improvement in quality when using 32 bit. This can be significant if you are doing a lot of processing and want the best possible quality, however the cost is that all files are twice as big, and you have to remember to convert to 16 bit to be sure of compatibility with other pro...

Re: No Flucuant Waves when recording

The turntable must be connected to the computer and recognised by Windows before you start Audacity.
Try rebooting (with the turntable connected to your computer. Allow Windows to fully boot up, then open Audacity and look for a USB recording device in the Audio I/O tab of the preferences.

Re: Export Selection produces tracks out of sync./ wrong len

I can deal with these issues now. Yipee :D But what about the tens of thousands of folks that don't have the technical proficiency or the patience to figure all this out. Most of the multitude do not do multi-track recording. Probably the most widespread use of Audacity is in transferring vinyl to ...

I'm shocked that anyone would release an OS without a decent file manager.

Re: Select All of One Track

I swear the Mac versions of Audacity have "Magic" problems. Something odd goes wrong and it slows down production. And then it does it again, [email protected]#$% so I stop what I'm doing and get out the pencil and paper to write down the steps needed to recreate the trouble, and the trouble vanishes. ...
