Just use one at a time. Either have the turntable plugged in, or the microphone, but not both.
You may need to reboot.

Re: Too much bass...
It sounds like you have done your research and your method is just about right, but there is one small step that can be easily improved on. Standard audio CD's always use "uncompressed" audio and not MP3's. Nero will accept MP3's and if you select "audio CD" as the type of CD to ...

Re: Error opening project
So, once I save my AUP file as a WAV file.... EXPORT! Audacity "saves" productions. To get a real audio file you "Export" from Audacity. (It's a small distinction, but very important). Once you have Exported your audio you would not usually need to keep your Audacity project fil...

See if your old machine will run with Xubuntu ( http://www.xubuntu.org/ ) Xubuntu is a modern, but lightweight Linux operating system that is ideal for older and low specification machines. Running Windows XP with only 256 MB ram is pushing things close to the limit, so you may find that you get bet...

Re: can I edit an mp3 file & save w/o recompressing?
i was led to believe, and perhaps wrongly so, that I could edit an mp3 file and save it out without recompressing. You can edit the file then Export the result as a WAV file, but they will be huge. Audacity always works on uncompressed audio data, so if you require an MP3 as the output, then Audaci...

Re: How to convert Joint-Stereo to Stereo in Windows MediaPl
"joint stereo" assumes that the show is essentially mono, then records the difference between the actual (stereo) and the assumed mono. "True" stereo records 2 indipendent channels - one for left and one for right. In practice there is little difference, though joint stereo will ...

Re: recording from turntable issues, HELP! Please
I've gotten the meter monitors to work by setting it to "stereo mix" not "line in". Now the recording level defaults to 0.1 and the red bars are almost always hitting the end no matter how low I set the volume on the source. We had a problem raised recently that was almost ident...

Re: Error message: Sound device
The first thing top try is to reboot your computer with the turntable connected. Allow your computer to fully boot and stabilise before you open Audacity.

Re: How To Record Streaming Audio In 1.3?
The only choices I have are Microphone, Rear Mic, Line In - how do I restore/resinstall whatever I need to get "wave out" or stero mix" as a choice? Have you ever had "Stereo Mix" as an option? (Some sound cards just do not have that option). Is this a laptop, or a full siz...
