Re: How to record/talk in the mic and stream sounds on SKYPE
Nobody wants to stick their neck out on this one because you are asking about a very complicated set-up with lots of challenges (as described by koz). The mixer/interfaces that you have listed are all nice little units, but whether you will be able to satisfy all the requirements/overcome all of the...

Re: Recording multiple tracks together
I have an echo Layla 8 channel interface. Can I record more than 1 track at a time with Audacity? Perhaps. Audacity has a strict set of criteria that must be met in order to record multiple (more than 2) channels. The device must use a single multi-channel driver and not multiple stereo drivers. On...

Re: In a VIRTUAL PC ?
Audacity works pretty well in Wine but there is a bit of a performance hit, so you would be in with a chance. However, if the problem is just with exporting as MP3, then I would work around the problem by Exporting as WAV and using an external MP3 encoder (this also will provide you with a perfect W...

Re: Recording from effects pedal
You have not said, but I'm guessing that this is not a normal guitar pedal. I bet it is a USB guitar pedal that uses your computer to produce the effects by running effects software in the computer. If this is the case, then to directly record the output of the effects, you need to use ASIO, which A...

Re: Help! Sound tracks out of synch
Is it out by the same amount throughout the track (for example, a tenth of a second late at the start of the track, and a tenth of a second late in the middle of the track, and still a tenth of a second late at the end of the track)? If this is the case, then the problem is with "latency"....

Re: Subsequent tracks get recorded at a different pitch
Basically, your computer is struggling to keep up with the audio. There are many things that can cause this, but the most common are; Anti-virus programs interfering with the recording process. Disk fragmentation. Other programs running at the same time. There are many other suggestions here: http:/...

Re: can't hear first second of some tracks
It's SigmaTel That's the other one :D Both RealTek and Sigmatel are very commonly used for on-board sound. They work reasonably well for voice recording, playback of computer pings, and playing music through your PC speakers, but are not generally very high quality - mostly because the manufacturer...

Re: How to convert Joint-Stereo to Stereo in Windows MediaPl
The Mono to stereo thing... If you just rip the CD directly to MP3 (insane), then the sound quality should be excellent without doing anything else. If you intend to do anything at all in Audacity, you should work with WAV files and not MP3 as Audacity needs uncompressed audio and will decompress M...

Re: Best USB Mike
USB is not good with long leads, but you should be OK with a lead up to about 5m (I know another Audacity user that has that same setup). BTE, the Zoom H2 is a great bit of kit - good quality sound, easy to use and truly portable (care should be taken not to drop it).

Congratulations, It sounds like you are getting the hang of all this. - and that's the...
