Re: Fixing variable sound level (DJ Mix)
Chris's Dynamic Compressor works pretty well on that. I used the following settings: Compression Ratio: 1.0 Maximum Amplitude: 0.8 Everything else at the defaults. If you want to turn it up to 11, use the fast lookahead limiter after the compressor with these settings: Input gain: 2.0 Limit: -0.3 Re...

Re: problems with saving
This gets terribly confusing unless we use the correct terminology. Audacity does not "Save" audio files - it "Saves" projects. A project consists of a small "Audacity Project File", and thousands of data files, some of which are stored in a project Data folder. To get ...

What do you mean "32-bit float, 14.4 pcm"?wavydave wrote:if i import 32-bit float, 14.4 pcm
If you just mean Import "32 bit float", edit, then Export as "32 bit float", then there will be no resampling and no loss of sound quality (as long as you do not change the sample rate).

Re: No Mic Icon

I presume you are using Vista? There's a special section in the Audacity wiki all about using Vista: http:/...

Re: Opening two recordings does not work
Audacity does not "Save" audio files, it "Saves" Audacity projects, which are more like "production environments". To get an audio file out of Audacity you must use "Export" ("File" menu). So, open one of the Audacity projects and select from the Fil...

Re: Audacity crashes when exporting to mp3 using Lame
I can count to ten (i.e. one, two, three, four, etc) and the "nine" and "ten" are at the first of the mp3 files instead of at the last. It sounds like this: "nine ten one two three four five six seven eight" Ooh how strange  I suspect that is an issue with the m...

Re: headphones
So you have imported an audio file into Audacity, and when you press "Play" you can hear it through your headphones? You have set "play other tracks while recording new one" in Audacity Preferences? When you press the record button you can hear the previously imported track playi...

Re: recording vocals over music
Unfortunately there are many variations of the sound cards mixer/control panel. There are even many different versions for a specific operating system. There are some general notes about this on this page: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... bar_Issues
