Re: How to record live music and speaking?
I need someone to walk me through his like I am a 4-year old. 1) Connect your existing equipment in the normal way (do not switch anything on yet) 2) Plug the USB sound card into the laptop USB port. 3) Connect the "Record out" from the mixing desk to the "Line in" of the sound ...

Re: Recording problem
I suspect that you have accidentally changed something in the sound card control panel (or another program has changed it for you). Look for a loudspeaker icon near the system clock. You may have set it to record "stereo mix" instead of the actual source that you want to record (or some ot...

Unless you plan to do a lot of processing of the audio you can keep it all as 16 bit (saves on disk space) and I doubt that you will be able to hear any difference (especially if you are just trimming the length).

Re: Need Some Really Good Headphones
These headphones are very good and remarkable value for money: http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_hd880.htm
I have bought a total of 7 pairs (6 for work and one pair for myself). One pair was faulty on arrival, but the company replaced them (and paid for the postage) without any fuss.

Re: recording 5 hours of webcast radio
It is sometimes difficult to tell if it is mono just by looking, but if you listen through headphones, mono audio will sound like it is in the middle of your head. Another simple way to tell using audacity is, (from the Track Drop Down Menu ), split the (2 channel) track and set each of the resultin...

Re: recording 5 hours of webcast radio
A lot of web-casts are in mono, so if your CD burning software can handle mono files, then you will be able to record in mono - that will save 50% disk space compared with stereo files. Note that audio CD's always use 2 channel stereo, so even if your recording is in mono you will not get any extra ...

Re: RUNNING CLOCK - WHERE IS IT?
As you say, you can see the play time by looking at the time bar. I guess that it was considered unnecessary to duplicate that function.
To stop the cursor in the current position, press "P" or the "Pause" button.
