If you know that the other people use Windows 2000/XP/Vista, then you provide the zip version of Audacity (see this page http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows ) and a second zip file with each track of your project exported as an MP3 (or if you want to keep it open source, export them as OGG...

You are correct, files without a "." in the name are not listed, but I don't understand why you would want Audacity to list them. If it's a problem, just name them with the appropriate extension.

You could try talking louder or closer to the microphone. I think that the Samson C01U USB microphone includes a utility for control the microphone gain - check the microphone documentation for details. Audacity has no control over the signal level from USB devices - it is entirely down to the devic...

From the Edit menu, select Preferences and go to the Audio I/O tab. Check that you have the correct audio device selected for the playback device. Try changing the default format rate (Edit menu > Preferences > Quality Tab). If it is set for 44100, try it at 48000, if it i at 48000 try it at 44100.
