Re: Problem Importing File
Audacity doesn't support Windows Media WMA files. There is experimental support for WMA files in 1.3.7 beta. It requires that you have a very recent version of ffmpeg installed and working on your machine. (Just spent a large part of last weekend getting it to work on my Linux computer, but now it ...

Secret Rabbit
I have been testing out some of the features available in the cvs source. One interesting feature is an option to use "Secret Rabbit Code" (aka libsamplerate) instead of the usual libresample for handling sample rate conversion. The alternative code seems to be very good, but I cannot do d...

Re: Problems with save and with export
Now that I want it, I can't find the earlier versions. I swear there was a link on the main download page. Have a browse through this lot: http://sourceforge.net/search/index.php?group_id=6235&words=file_name%3A(%2Baudacity)&type_of_search=files&pmode=0&limit=50 (forum does not like...

Re: mp3 encoding - playback volume of recorded file
- Pressed 'Play' button on windows media player - Pressed 'Record' button on Audacity. You know that you can Import audio files? In Audacity 1.3.x it is in the File menu, in Audacity 1.2.x I think it may be in the Tracks menu but I can't remember for sure. Also see here: http://audacityteam.org/help/

Re: Recording multiple inputs simultaneously
Now, if you're on a Windows machine, you can mess up the Sound Control Panel to the point where you record everything in the computer all smashed together. That's not most people's idea of multi-channel. Windows users call this "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear". Linux users call it ...

Re: Can still get previous versions?
Go to the download page on the Audacity web site and find the "alternate downloads" link. That will take you to Audacity downloads on the Sourceforge web site. Then use the search facility (a general term such as "audacity" should bring up every version ever released). By the way...

Re: Batch processing to remove silent gaps
In Audacity 1.3 there is an effect called "Truncate Silence" that will do this.
(the threshold must be set higher than the maximum sound level in the "dead air" parts).

Re: Why oh WHY THE continued CRASHES?!
What version of Audacity are you using? What is your operating system (including Service Packs). What is your computer? How much free disk space do you have on your C: drive? How much free RAM is available (real RAM, not counting swap file). When did you last defragment your hard drive? When did you...
