If you let us know which forum board would you like this on I'll move it for you. Windows, Mac, Linux? Audacity 1.2.x / 1.3.x? The answers depend on your set-up. Any other information that may help to diagnose the problem? (for example, does the microphone/computer/sound card work? USB microphone?.....

@koz; I've noticed that you have commented on film & DVD's a few times. Is there a way that I can use a red filter in a video editor to cancel out the blue screen Chroma-Key effect so that I can watch my Jurassic Park DVD with the actors, but without the scary dinosaurs?

ffmpeg support was first introduced with Audacity 1.3.6 (hence the reason for a few glitches with it).
