Re: Unwanted Pitch shift
I am also having a pitch shift problem. In my case I am recording from an analog source and it is shifting down about a half step. I'm using version 1.2.4 . Any ideas? 1) Update Audacity - 1.2.4 is obsolete. (you can install both 1.2.6 and 1.3.x but you can only run one at a time. Projects that hav...

Re: input choices
I'm an XP user and having a similar problem. The only two choices I have in the mixer are: Microphone and Line out. I have tried all the suggestions that are relevant on http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel but nothing seems to work. Is there any...

Re: Making bass drops (808) sounds in audacity
You need Audacity 1.3 I'm not sure how much success you will have with this method, but it is supposed to work (seems to be a bit buggy on my Linux computer) Create the sound (use Generate or whatever) then create a "Time Track". Use the Envelope tool to create a down slope in the time tra...

Re: Binaural Recording
The first time a real head turned around to look at somebody talking, the audience will fall over. Yes absolutely. David Attenborough hushed tones "and to our right are a pair of young gorillas talking to a doorman, we must be careful not to disturb them, but if we gently turn toward them...&q...

Music recording set up for under $1000
I was recently asked this question. So I don't have to type it all out again, these are my recommendations: For even semi serious recording, it is vital that you have good quality equipment to play back on (monitoring) If your speakers are bass heavy, then all of your recordings will end up sounding...

Re: Adding sound to "right" side
I just extracted the audio from a homemade DVD. Apparently whoever was recording it set it to stereo but the right speaker didn't pick up any thing! That is not uncommon. DVDs support both mono and stereo. If the recording was made with mono recording, then the extracted audio will probably come ou...

Re: Noise heard ONLY when saving files?
-5db down? When recording i'm reaching -6db on audacity (if i'm reading it right). 0 dB = Red Line. Maximum signal level. -6 dB = Half of full scale amplitude. Equivalent to a signal that goes between +0.5 and -0.5 on the vertical scale in Audacity. -12dB = Quarter of full scale. Equivalent to a si...

Re: Noise heard ONLY when saving files?
I uploaded a new file and i'd like you to check it out and tell me if you find anything wrong with the volume levels If that is the straight recording level, then I would say it's not far off.Is that recorded of a radio / TV? If it was, then you could possibly turn up the recording level a little, ...
