Re: Can't adjust input volume
I hear that Vista uses "per application" settings, that is, it uses different settings for each application. That could be a place to start looking.

Re: Can't adjust input volume
My best guess is still that it is a sound system setting somewhere, but I'm not sufficiently familiar with Vista to suggest where else to look.

Re: Can't adjust input volume

I wasn't at all sure that the Direct X drivers would make any difference, but I thought it was worth a try. This definitely sounds like ...

Re: Unwanted Pitch shift
I also notice that the "recording device" in my AudioIO tab was set to Microsoft Sound Mapper -input. The recording tutorial says not to select this if you are running Windows XP (which I am). I think that the tutorial says not to use Microsoft Sound Mapper input if you are recording from...

Re: Can't adjust input volume
If I record through Traktor Pro, I get a good recording. Therefore, I conclude that my hardware setup is not the issue, but that it is directly related to my present Audacity version. Not necessarily. Traktor is probably using ASIO drivers which bypass Vistas horrible sound system. Audacity can not...
