Re: Can't Export.

Try resetting Audacity. To do that, delete (or rename) the "audacity.cfg" file. It is a hidden file and is usually located: Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacity When you have done that, open Audacity (If you've removed the correct file you will be asked to set the lang...

Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit

Just had another thought - perhaps the recording was made using a 16 bit sound card.

Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit

When I record in Audacity at 32bit float or 24bit, a close examination of the wav-form shows it to be 16bits padded to 24bit. How do I (we) know? We use Cool Edit Pro to zoom in each sample, then zoom in on the vertical axis to get to single digits on that axis. According to Mitiok, the vertical ax...

Re: recording from a cassette player

Open the Soundmax Control panel (probably an icon near the clock) and set the recording settings in there.

Re: Record guitar to PC in stereo

A real quick way (works in Audacity 1.3, not tested in 1.2) 1) select track and Ctrl+D (duplicate) 2) click on name of the upper track and select "make stereo track". Another way (may work in Audacity 1.2 if the above method does not): 1) Create an empty stereo track 2) Select the mono gui...

Re: rec* (s/m mixes come out realy louder n clearly off cent

I presume you mean that you are recording from "Stereo Mix"? (try to avoid too many abbreviations, they make it difficult for people to understand what you are talking about). I'm a bit concerned about the off-centre waveform (DC offset), that should clearly not be happening. My first susp...

Re: Split at silences

The best way to split MP3s is with another free program "MP3 split" http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/

Unlike Audacity, it can split MP3s without having to decode and then re-encode them, so not only is it faster, it also requires much less disk space and the sound quality is better.

See previous posts. The maximum file size for WAV files is 4GB. If you try to create WAV files bigger than this they don't work.

Re: Audacity mutes my output

Apparantly audacity mutes my sound card whenever I start it. If you are using a USB audio device, then that will cause changes to your sound system, or to be more accurate, Windows will change your sound system settings if it detects a USB sound card. Windows may change sound system settings in oth...
