Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit
I can't use anything above 1.3.3. Someone decided that my drivers no longer get support, so I cannot record with any newer version. Driver support in Audacity has changed a couple of times in recent releases of Audacity in order to support as many types of hardware as possible. There were changes m...

Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit
Here's an example that clearly shows samples that are not 16 bit values (vertical scale in dB)... Perhaps you can advise me on how you achieved this screenshot. In the Preferences/Interface the option of displaying -145dB range is there. I imported a file but the graph falls well below that range n...

Re: how to make 1.3.7 the default version if I also have 1.3
I've been using 1.3.8 on Linux and it is pretty stable. There are several bug fixes in it that are not in 1.3.7, so although it stilll an alpha it is probably no more risky than 1.3.7. However, there probably are some bugs in it, so with important work you should be extra diligent about making backu...

Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit
If this is indeed the case, why in the world is development continuing on this software with this major problem outstanding? In the history of recorded music we have had The Beetles, Buddy Holly, Ella Fitzgerald, Stephan Grappelli, Jimmy Hendrix, The Who, Elvis, Bob Marley, Beethoven, Mahler.... al...

Re: Error opening project
Somehow, couldn't get in to the text file to change name to value The file that has the problem in it is the .AUP file (The Audacity Project File). There are two parts to Audacity Projects - there is the AUP file, and then there are lots of little data files. The data files have the file extension ...

Re: How to cut & paste more than one track ?
Drag across the tracks to select the bit that you want to repeat, then select "Repeat" from the effects menu.
You can also toggle track selections by pressing the Enter key or by holding down the shift key and clicking just below the track name.

Re: Exporting Large .wav files
Yes, 16 bit 44Kbps mono .wav :D No, it's "kHz" not "kbps" In "16 bit / 44.1kHz", the "44.1kHz" refers to the sampling rate (44100 samples per second). In compressed audio formats such as "MP3", we talk about "kbps" (kilobits per second) wh...

Read the posts - Audacity IS capable of exporting to 24bit / 32 bit.thunderstick wrote:This is serious.
I'd like an answer as to whether Audacity is infact incapable of exporting to 24bit.
Throw it away then.thunderstick wrote:If so, this software is junk.

Re: rec* (s/m mixes come out realy louder n clearly off cent
well I ain't using 1.3.7 yet till all the yelling and screaming dies down. That could be a wise move :D I hear that the developers were planning to release a bug-fixed version on 1.3.7 but I'm not sure if that has happened yet. Audacity 1.3.8 is probably not far away - I'm using the alpha version, ...
