Re: Beta ver 1.3.4 (timer record)

Audacity is now at version 1.3.7 beta and that bug is now fixed (along with several others). It doesn't look like the Ubuntu developers are going to be updating Audacity in the Hardy repository, but you can either try building Audacity from the source code, or download the deb file from the Jaunty r...

Re: Overdubbing Question

All I hear is the part "inside my head" so to speak which is not a good way to monitor your own singing. It's not a bad way as long as you keep the headphone volume down to a reasonable level. A lot of singers have only one side of their headphones over one ear, so that they can hear &quo...

Re: Question about Mic Input slider

I noticed the Mic Input slider was automatically adjusting itself as we all spoke. That's amazing - Audacity does not do that :o I guess Audacity must be responding to changes that your sound card driver is making. Some sound cards (notably PC laptops) have various kinds of Automatic Gain Control (...

Re: audacity with usb speakers

If your speakers have a line out, then you can probably feed that into the line in of your sound card (but watch out for feedback - you need to ensure that the line in signal is not coming out trough the speakers or it will squeal). This will not work from the line out from your sound card as the au...

Audacity 1.3 allows "custom export, for example to export a 5.1 multi-channel file"
Edit menu > Preferences > Import/Export tab

(I've not used this option, but it's there.)

Re: libmp3lame.so.0 / find library

I´m wondering could the problem be because my system is 64 bit My guess is that is probably the case. I've used the 32bit versions (installed with Synaptic) and they work "out of the box". I think this is likely to be a distribution issue rather than an Audacity issue, so it may be worth ...

Re: analyzing/reproducing an effect

A nice detailed description breslin. You've noticed that it is necessary to be quite obsessive about the detail ;) One small detail that it looks like you may have missed: The Eq in between the words is different from the Eq during the words. Not surprisingly, the sound effect that you are copying i...

Re: Audio to USB converter question

I think that you need to be looking either at very expensive, very cheap, or modifying. Audio interfaces should not be DC coupled. DC is not sound, it's wind. You may find that some very cheap audio devices have DC coupling for the sake of frequency response without the expensive of good quality inp...

Re: damaged

Some of the effects will do slightly strange things at the end of the selection. The trick is to select the selection region carefully. Try to make your selection occur at a point which is either almost silent (for example, on a vocal track, in between words), or in the case of rhythmic tracks, just...
