Re: Reverb
G-Verb is not the easiest, but it can produce very good results and there are some detailed instructions on how to use it available here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=GVerb I generally use the "Duplicate and mix together" approach. I do not personally recommend using VST ef...

Re: Spyware Detector and Audacity
Old versions (pre 2006) of "Spyware Detector" had a bad reputation for producing false positives, though apparently it has improved a lot in this respect. All "malware" detection is required to use some degree of guesswork in determining if something is spyware/virus, or clean. I...

Re: Export - smallest size, best quality
If you change the project rate (in Project Rate box in the lower left of the main Audacity screen) to a lower rate before exporting, the encoded MP3 will use that sample rate and produce a smaller file. Reducing the sample rate will also reduce the frequency band limit (the maximum frequency at a gi...

Re: 1.3.5 - imported audio and saving projects
Audacity projects have always had two parts - an "Audacity Project File" and a "data folder". This goes back to version 0.8 which as far as I'm aware was the first public release. Before Audacity 1.1.0, Audacity used it's own format for the project file and had ".vaf" f...

How do podcasters do this? They have to cross this hurdle every day. Should be very straightforward. Talk for a bit and record your voice - when you get to a place where the music will start, continue recording (pretend that the music is playing) until you get to a natural pause, then stop the reco...
Re: MP3 Issue
If you don't use meta data tags you can switch off the meta data dialogue in Preferences. (I always have it switched off, which is why I did not recognise the issue).

I use whichever tool does the job most effectively and efficiently - which is often open source software.SonicClang wrote:For any serious recording, like making my own music, I use a serious program, not a free one.

Re: mic input
The SM58 is a mono mic, but do you have Audacity set up to record stereo? It wakes up from First Birthday in mono. Reset in Audacity Preferences. Koz Hello, I downloaded Audacity today for the first time and recording is in mono...is it because Audacity is default to that or is it possible to set t...

Re: working with cassette tapes
If you could upload somewhere on the internet, a small WAV file that illustrates the problem, then post a link so that we can have a look at it. (You can't post wav files directly onto the forum).
