Re: Audio File plays too fast
"Smart Recording" is for "voice activated recording". Recording starts when the sound goes over the set level, and pauses when the level drops below the set threshold (so your pauses are not recorded).

Re: Multivoice Chorus Plug in SETTINGS?!!!
The example clarify the question a lot - that isn't a "chorus effect" (although I agree that is what one might reasonable expect a chorus effect to do). The effect in that song is achieved by recording several tracks of vocals and adding some "reverb", then the lead vocal is reco...

Re: a general voice editing question
Small amounts of pitch shifting (a semi-tone or so) are quite easy to do in Audacity and the quality is pretty good. Larger changes tend to cause the quality to suffer quite badly. There are some (expensive) tools (such as "Autotune") that will do a better job with larger pitch shifts, but...

Re: Interview subjects talk too loudly!
With the Zoom H2, you can. You can also have AGC (Automatic Gain Control) switched on if you wish, but I use mine for music, so I always have AGC switched off.kozikowski wrote:One of the complaints of the Zoom series of field recorders is the inability to change the volume once the show starts.

That's what I guessed.earlybird wrote:uh....I plugged it into the guitar input.........mic in mic input.
You need to set Audacity preferences to record from the analogue inputs of the M-audio, not the digital input.

Re: Sound cutting out on playback
The more tracks you have in Audacity, the harder it is for your computer. All computers have a limit of how many tracks they can play at the same time. On my old computer it is about 8 tracks of 16bit 44.1kHz - on my faster computer it is over 30 tracks (not found the limit yet). Higher bit depths a...

Re: Balancing the channels
Have i got it right so far? Close ;) This is how I do it: 1) Record each track with a recording level set quite high, but below 0dB (in practice, if the peaks are over -12dB but below 0dB then that is close enough - it is important to stay below 0dB). Don't worry too much about the mix at this stag...

Re: MP3: optimize settings
The original recording should be as clean and high quality as possible (but no need to go to extremes of setting the sample rate any higher than 44.1 or 48kHz). For high quality MP3s, select one of the "Quality" presets in the MP3 options. The "Insane" setting is the highest poss...

Have you tried the "Amplify" effect?

Re: Audio File plays too fast
Do you have "Smart Recording" switched on in Audacity Preferences? If so, try switching it off and see if that is the cause.pacose wrote:I have 4-5 second pauses between paragraphs. When I play back from Audacity, the entire recording speeds up and there are no pauses between sentences or paragraphs.
