Re: It doens't seem to work

The recording inputs of laptop PCs are frequently very poor (designed for internet phone calls rather than music recording). This is why most Audacity users with laptops use USB sound cards (search the forum for "Behringer UCA 202" and for "Edirol"). It would only work with the a...

Re: Copy music

In Audacity, select "Export" from the File menu.
Assuming that you are using Audacity 1.3.7, choose "WAV" as the export format.

The exported WAV may be burned to CD or copied to a USB memory stick and given to your brother,

Re: It doens't seem to work

You should see the recording meter jumping up and down, and a wiggly waveform appear rather than a straight blue line. The most likely cause is that you do not have the correct recording input set in the RealTek control panel, or it is muted. If you are using Vista, read this: http://audacityteam.or...

The problem is that the sound cards internal clock is not running at a constant speed.
It may improve if you select a different default sample rate (Edit menu > Preferences > Quality tab).

Re: English grammar errors in Help Contents

Of course you may, although I believe that the manual editing guidelines specify that it should be written in American and not English. If you send an e-mail to Gale Andrews I'm sure he will be happy to advise. His e-mail address is available here: http://audacityteam.org/manual/index.php?title=Main...

Re: Skipping(Ive read the FAQ!)

Ive just watched the CPU usage through a recording and it spiked once to 33% and it made the recording skip.is it audacity or the laptop?? If the glitch coincided with the spike in CPU usage, then it is almost certainly the laptop. Note that many CPU monitors use quite a lot of CPU themselves, and ...

Re: Audacity questions

My microphone is 16 bit. Should I still use 32-bit float for editing? Processing audio in 32 bit is more precise (better quality) than using 16 bit, but uses twice as much disk space. For simple editing (cut/paste, trim and delete) there will be no difference between using 16 or 32 bit. Unless your...
