Re: annoyance : incorrect positioning of Audacity window

This has been raised before as "Audacity start position under Windows XP" in 2007 but hasn't been fixed in v1.2.6. It's not going to get fixed in Audacity 1.2.x either. Development of 1.2 ended some time ago. All current development is on 1.3 and is working toward the new "Audacity 1...

Re: Auto Apply Chain

No, and No.
But if you think that there could be a feature that would benefit you and other users, you could post a suggestion on the "Adding Features to Audacity" board. http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=20

Re: How can I amplitude modulate one channel with another ?

This assumes that the carrier wave is in the right channel: (mult (sum 0.5 (scale 0.5 (aref s 0)))(aref s 1)) For 100% modulation, you must normalize the track before running the Nyquist command. If you want to also remove the carrier wave, try: (sim (mult (aref s 1) -0.5) (mult (sum 0.5 (scale 0.5 ...

Re: Audacity crashs on WAVs created with Adobe Premiere Elem

Has someone looked into making Audacity able to deal with those files, instead of just re-encoding the files with another program? In the previous thread, neither myself, or another user had problems opening the file in question. I don't know what version of Audacity the other user was using, but I...

Re: Audacity 1.3.7: Sound stuttering after long recording

I think that we may have got somewhat distracted from the original question. Although "short recording > OK / long recording > stuttering" is usually indicative of fragmentation or other drive access speed issues, we seem to have pretty well eliminated such possibilities. Looking back to t...

Re: audacity won't start up

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Some suggestions: Make sure that the anti-virus program treats ".au" files and ".aup" files as "safe". If that doesn't fix it, try replacing your anti-virus program with "Avast" or "AVG". They are both long sta...

Re: Copy music

Windows machines tend to not have built-in burning programs to produce a data (not music) CD like Macs do. For that you'll need one of the free burning programs--one may have come with the CD drive in your machine. Windows XP and later support writing to CD without additional software; Windows XP’s...

Re: Audacity 1.3.7: Sound stuttering after long recording

When Audacity is so prone to fragmentation, why isn't the recordying buffered to memory before writing to the hard drive? You mean buffering to ram, then writing as one big file? There are significant performance advantages in Audacity saving lots of little data files rather than a few great big on...

Re: basic editing of MP3 doesn't work

Curious question, is there a way to save the position of the cursor an then get back to it easily? In Audacity 1.3 there is an option at the bottom of the Edit menu called "Play region" with which you can lock/unlock the play region to the currently selected region. This is useful if you ...

Should I stick to mono for such basic use?
Yes, stick to mono. Unless you do something odd it should come out of both speakers.
