1) Is it lagging behind by a constant amount throughout the track?
2) Something must have changed, the question is what? Perhaps you have changed the default sample rate or bit depth? (Edit > Preferences > Quality tab)
3) I would Recommend updating to Audacity 1.3

Re: A quick question
You need to open the sound card mixer - look for a loudspeaker icon near to the computer clock/date. Make sure that the microphone socket is not muted and has some volume for playback. By the way, a microphone input is not very suitable for a guitar - it is too sensitive, so you will have to be care...

Re: Apply De-emphasis?
Having played around with it a bit more, I think the best values will be around:
gain reduction = 9.49
frequency = 6600Hz
slope = 0.5
but still interested to see what figures you guys come up with.

Re: Apply De-emphasis?
The only defined points I know about are from the web site at 1061, 3183, and 20000 On the diagram it states "+3dB at 3183Hz, shelving at 10610 Hz, Max at 20kHz. With the "shelf Eq" in Nyquist, the "frequency" is around the half way point between where the slope begins to d...

Have you checked that your headset is listed and enabled in the Windows Control Panel?

Re: What bit rates for MP3's are generally considered low, m
Audacity 1.3 can use VBR or CBR. The clever people that make LAME have worked out a series of optimum "Quality" settings. A selection of these are listed in Audacity 1.3 in the "Options" (after you select "Export" and select "MP3" as the Export format). These ...

Re: Crashing when trying to change tempo or pitch.
Since you have mentioned Firefox - it may be because of an incompatibility with a Firefox plug-in. When you want to edit, it is best to shut other applications to avoid such issues (and also to give Audacity as much computer power as your PC is capable of). It may be worth you trying Audacity 1.3 - ...

Re: Losing Labels Burning to CD
WAV files do not support labels. The label track allows you to use "Export Multiple" to split your recording into individual tracks that can then be burned to an audio CD to create separate tracks on the CD.
There is a tutorial all about this in the Audacity wiki (see link at top of page).

Re: Changing Stereo to Mono
1 - Split the stereo track into two tracks (drop-down menu to the left of the 'X' for closing out the track on the top left of that window -> Split Stereo Track) 2 - Assign each track to be "Mono" (under same top drop down menu on top left, now two of them after splitting) 3 - Adjust the ...

Re: Delta 66 Question
A new one would probably have a warranty. Driver updates for old hardware are unlikely to be available, but unless you change your operating system that is unlikely to be a problem. With sound cards, "newer" does not necessarily mean "better". Sometimes, the reasons for manufactu...
