Re: Spam, Unsubscribe

Just killed a couple as well. Spamming the PMs is a new twist, if it continues we'll have to get admin to put in a block against it. It is advisable not to register on any forums with an important e-mail address - use a "disposable" address (for example a free hotmail address). You can cha...

Re: Organizing Effects (Group)

I personally find it easier to work with grouped lists (lots of plug-ins) but would like to be able to customize the grouping for LADSPA plug-ins as well as Nyquist plug-ins.

I don't know enough about the Audacity code to help with your question, but if you look on the Audacity wiki there is some information about submitting patches. This will put you in touch with the developers who are the people that are able to answer your questions on this - I'm sure they will be pl...

Re: Recording sustained tones

You are probably using a fairly modern computer with on-board sound card, possibly "RealTek", and have some kind of "Automatic Gain Control" (AGC), noise suppression, or echo cancellation type effect enabled. Look in the sound-card control panel (thoroughly - these settings can b...

Re: Best Recording Prefs in/out

I use 16bit 44100 if I am just transfering to CD (with little processing involved). For music production I use 32bit 48kHz - I am yet to be convinced that there are any real benefits in going higher. Audacity 1.2.5 was made around the same time as the crystal wireless - you should upgrade to 1.2.6 a...

Re: Recording Question

Use Audacity 1.3 and adjust the "Latency correction" in Preferences.
There is a tutorial about latency correction somewhere on his forum - a search might drag it up.

Re: A quick question

is the sound card mixer in audacity or is it in my computer options? It's not in Audacity, it's your computer sound system. If you can record into Audacity, and you can play from Audacity, then Audacity is set up correctly. Bottom right corner of the monitor display, near to the clock/date - an ico...

You might have some joy with "Chris' Dynamic Compressor". It's a Nyquist plug-in that you pop into your plug-ins folder. It's not really designed for what you are wanting to do, but with a bit of tweaking it will probably help a lot. You should be able to easily find it with Google.

Re: How can I amplitude modulate one channel with another ?

Another thought that I've not had time to try out:

Use two comb filters on the audio signal and multiply one be the other - should make some interesting noise :)
