Re: Trouble renaming segment saved
When I attempt to save a segment as "wav", the popup defaults the file name as project_name.wav. If I attempt to change the name to artist - song title.wav, "it" spawns a new pair of tracks, but does not save anything and I have ended up aborting the entire process. What I did g...

Re: Intrumental Remover Code
Unfortunately, there's no such thing as center-pan isolation. See this thread, where stevethefiddle explained to me why this is: To be precise, I was explaining why "vocal isolation" can not be achieved in the same manner as "centre pan removal". Some degree of vocal isolation c...

Re: MP3 playback lower quality compared to playing on Audaci
I think that you have several different issues here. Things were going swimmingly then the last time we recorded the talking parts of the podcast sounded slightly distorted (the music part sounded fine). When you mix together two or more tracks, the peak amplitude will be greater than the individual...

Re: Removing Background Music
Kn0ck0ut did the job: here is a link to an mp3 of before and after background music removed, leaving effects .. I thought I'd have a go using just the tools built into Audacity 1.3 This is the first time I've tried this and I didn't spend a lot of time on it so the results are not that brilliant, b...

Re: export/import delay
Can you point me to some docomentation about ? I would start with Wikipedia. If the information isn't there, there will probably be links to relevant sites. Any reason that you can't use Ogg Vorbis ? The sound quality of Ogg is bit better than MP3 at equivalent bit rates, and it is open source so t...

Re: Can't record -- microphone not recognized
There's probably something fundamental that I'm not doing. People *have* used Audacity with Vista, right? Any ideas? Yes, probably over a million people use Audacity with Vista though I don't have exact statistics. However there are a few issues that are specific to Vista - read the full article th...

Re: How to precisley align tracks
Once you have them quite close, you can zoom in and make small adjustments if needed using the "time shift tool" (double headed arrow).

Re: Is there a stereo mix recording time limit?
There is no limit in Audacity 1.3 - not sure about 1.2
Very long recordings require a rock solid stable computer, so even if there is nothing "wrong" you are not guaranteed trouble free recording of extremely long recording times.
Note also that the maximum file size for a WAV file is 4GB.

Re: From Where Are Projects Recovered?
If the project has not been saved, Audacity puts the data and temporary files in the default temporary file directory. I think that the Ubuntu build of Audacity puts the temporary files in: /home/user name/.audacity/ You can check by opening Audacity and looking in: Edit menu > Preferences > Directo...
