Re: Clicking Noise ONLY at track transition point!

The easiest way is to apply a short "fade out" to the end of the first bit, and a short "fade in" at the beginning of the next bit. For really professional results, use the "Time shift" tool to move the second track so that it overlaps the first track for the duration o...

Re: Can not import Wav file from a Samsung camera

The file is a compressed "ADPCM WAV" file rather than a regular "PCM WAV" file. You should be able to import it into Audacity if you use the latest 1.3 beta version, but you will probably also need to have FFMPEG correctly installed. See Here: http://www.audacityteam.org/manual/i...

Re: How do I activate direct monitoring on my SB X-FI FATAL1

Audacity on Windows offers two options for monitoring: hardware/software The default is "hardware" but will be overridden if you go into Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O and select "software playthrough" (so don't :) ) There will still be a short delay (latency) while audio ma...

Re: Spectrum.txt file use as preset?

Personally I've never found a use for this feature, though I guess someone has. You could (theoretically) use it for creating an Equalizer preset by comparing the numbers from the analysis of your audio sample with the numbers from some "idealised" sample. To illustrate what I mean, here i...

Re: Changing Pitch and Tempo

really messes up the length and synch between tracks! I suspect this is a bug since it doesn't really show if shifting a whole track. Not really a "bug" - more of a "limitation". "Change Pitch" will change the pitch while keeping the length approximately the same. A si...

Re: Recording both the mic and streaming audio

If your computer has the option to record "Stereo Mix" (in the sound card control panel/mixer - loudspeaker icon near the clock) then you can record multiple sources at the same time - basically, all sounds that are playing through your computer, though your sound card / sound card drivers...

Re: Can't Record Using Windows Vista

When you connect a USB device to a Windows computer, Windows will automatically select it for both recording and playback. However, you do not want that. You want the USB turntable for recording, but you want your RealTek sound card for playback. Go into "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O&quo...

Re: Audacity does not "hear" the microphone

Set Audacity to use "ALSA default", then in your computer volume control (I don't know what "volume contro/mixer Mepis uses, but I presume that it is a GUI for AlsaMixer) select the microphone as the recording source. If you cannot see an option for selecting the microphone as the rec...

Re: Recorded files disappear after closing prgrm

We have a filename convention at work that uses Upper Case to separate words. MyReallyGreatMusic-monday.wav The other common convention is to use the underscore: my_really_great_music-monday.mp3 This format is probably better if you are posting on the internet as it avoids problems that can arise f...
