Re: removing part of the track that don't want?

If a bass guitar is active then does this mean that the battery has to work in order for me to get any amplification out of the amplifier or does it just mean that when the 'battery' is used that you get even more amplification/bass? Usually with active basses, no battery = no sound (or extremely l...

Re: MP3 Export, CBR=Good VBR=Bad Length

I am using Rhythmbox 0.11.6 on Ubuntu (8.10 Intrepid Ibex) and it does not show proper lengths. If it does on your system, that's very good, I'd love to know why. "Rhythmbox 0.11.6 on Ubuntu (8.10 Intrepid Ibex) " - same here, and yes, on all the MP3's I've tested, play length are reporte...

Re: How do I activate direct monitoring on my SB X-FI FATAL1

As long as the internal clock in the sound card is stable, the latency should remain pretty constant (up to the point where your system gets close to its limits).

Re: Changing Pitch and Tempo

but instrumentals and vocals (or anything legato) really suffer. For these, it's a little more complex - When you select and copy the bits for processing, you need to copy slightly longer lengths so that each section overlaps by a little with the next section. You can then apply a short cross-fade ...

Re: poor quality export

There are a peculiar mixture of characteristics in the sound audio that you are encoding. Whilst the sounds are to a large extent lowish frequency (with a couple of very prominent peaks in the frequency spectrum), there is also a fair bit of noise (as indicated by koz). Also, where you have cross fa...

Re: Overload on S/PDIF input

(unless there is a huge difference between 1.3.5 and 1.3.7 betas) There have been some significant improvements for handling newer hardware, and there is still work going on in 1.3.8 alpha toward getting portaudio to correctly identify bit depths over 16 bit (which from what I hear seems to be a we...

Re: Why empty gaps.

Removing parts of a project by accident doesn't give you a straight line. The blue line keeps wiggling even though the show is silent. Only until Audacity realises that the data is missing. When Audacity gets round to refreshing the waveform image, the waveform for any missing data is replaced with...

Re: Overload on S/PDIF input

Are you certain that both pieces of hardware support 24 bit data? (SPDIF is usually 20 bit data, sometimes less).

Re: Why empty gaps.

Try to avoid moving, renaming, deleting or otherwise changing any file or folder that may possibly be connected in any way with the project that you are working on. (the symptom that you describe suggest that some of the data required in the project has been moved, deleted, or otherwise made unavail...

Re: Splitting Dj mix into seperate tracks

Have you got Audacity stuck in "Clean Speech" mode?

Check in "Edit menu > Preferences > Interface tab".

There is also a later version of Audacity - 1.3.7 beta (it's good).
