Re: Audacity and Versa Port from American Audio

Windows, Mac, Linux?
Audacity 1.2/1.3?

Does the Versa Port work? Is it recognised by your operating system?
Have you selected it in Audacity (Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O) ?

Re: Audacity for Mac less powerful than Audacity for Windows

Windows users, like Mac users, normally have to install LAME themselves in order to encode MP3: http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3. It's a legal issue, not a technical one. I don't know how you would have gotten around that with your Dell. If Audacity 1.2 was being used AN...

Really? I have a few WAV files on my computer right now that are nearly 5GBs long.
Interesting - they must be using the RF64, or W64 format (or something similar) rather than standard WAVs

Re: Playback delay while recording?

By disabling the software playthrough, you can't hear anything. That depends on your hardware. If you use the same device for recording and playback, then it should be possible to set it to playback while recording using hardware playthrough (providing the hardware and drivers support this, which m...

Like I say post rebuild of Hardy there was no memory ramping and the 1 hour recordings were very responsive to work with - this morning we're back in the grey-world. "post" rebuild of hardy? Do you mean "pre" rebuild of hardy? When was Audacity nice and responsive and when was i...
