Re: Voice Quality
Try using higher bit rates for the MP3s (for example try the "Standard" preset).

Re: Audacity Crashes
They are all using the latest stable version of Audacity (1.2.6) Although 1.2.6 was the last version to have the word "stable" in it's name, it is rather old now and is due to be replaced in the near future by "1.4 (stable)" which will be based on version 1.3. Many users now fin...

Re: Playing in a Window
This problem is caused by invalid options in the Audacity configuration file (audacity.cfg) The easiest way to fix it is to search for "audacity.cfg" and delete it - it will be recreated with the default values the next time you launch Audacity. Note that on Windows, audacity.cfg is a hidd...

Re: Distortion Analyzer
I wonder how much of the distortion analyzer can be done with common tools inside audacity. Quite a lot I think - I had a play with this idea today while waiting for some DVDs to burn. Apply a pure, quiet tone to the equipment under test. Inspect the output by completely deleting the original sine ...
Re: Window 98
I believe that Audacity 1.2.6 works on Windows 98, but I don't have a machine to test it on.
Note that on a computer this old performance is likely to be rather limited.
Do let us know how you get on.

What "small CD-Rom"?Durium wrote:The small CD-Rom inserted to the set in unplayable.
Is that the driver disk that came with your USB device? If it is unreadable, you may need to contact the supplier of your device.
You have not told us what this USB device is.

You may need a more recent version of Audacity. The current version is 1.3.7

Re: Problems with trim
You can use the "Pause" button (or the "P" key) to pause playback, then click on the track at the current cursor position to select that as the playback point, then press "stop" (Spacebar) to change from pause to stop. The new playback position should now be at the poin...
Re: input
Try recording (60 seconds) with Windows Sound Recorder.
If that works, set Audacity to use the "Microsoft Sound Mapper" (Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O).
If "Sound Recorder" does not work, you will need to fix your computer sound system (possibly a driver problem).
