Re: Playing in a Window

Re: Suddenly hear nothing with external sound in v1.3.7
Check in "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O" and see what you have selected as the playback device. (if sound is coming from your internal sound card, then that must be what is selected, but you want to use the external sound card, so you must select that).

And the software might be free, but I would totally pay for a print manual :D Load up your printer with ink and paper - the Audacity 1.2 manual is available in PDF format here: http://audacityteam.org/help/audacity-manual-1.2.pdf It can also be viewed on-line here: http://audacityteam.org/manual-1....

Re: Ok- what's the function that "marks" songs called??
There are a couple of tutorials about how to record songs for CDs on the Audacity wiki. Re: Input selection box missing in 1.3.7 ??
I don't know why you don't have a device toolbar showing if it has been selected, but why don't you use the Windows Mixer (loudspeaker icon near the system clock) rather than going into the control panel?

Re: Audio Fluctuation
The strange looking results are likely to be due to the method that Wavosaur is using to analyse the audio. I'm not familiar with what methods Wavosaur uses, but if you try the spectrum analysis in Audacity 1.3 you will see that you get vastly different displays depending on both the size, function,...
