Apply "Quick Mix" to the track before you Export it should work ("Mix and Render" in Audacity 1.3)

Re: how can i start my project with metronome?

Do you mean that you have a recording of a song, and you want to add 4 clicks before the start of the song so that you can then play the song (including the 4 count in beats) and join in with the song as the song starts (immediately after the count in)? Do you know the tempo (beats per minute) of th...

Re: WAV files exported from Audacity are not bit-identical

No, I don't think it is supposed to do it. In the case of CD's guessing the frequencies up to 20kHz, that should be handled by the CD player working from "nearest 16 bit values" and using algorithms built into the player to calculate the probable frequencies. This is one of the main things...

Re: Programmatic access to the Audacity API

can import be part of the chain? Is there a tutorial somewhere? You won't actually need to use "Import" in the chain as the chain (chain of commands) is applied to each of the files that you select one after the other. Chain commands can only be applied to one file at a time, so you would...

Re: WAV files exported from Audacity are not bit-identical

It appears that Audacity is applying dither to 16 bit files on import.
I don't think that it should do that, so I will pass this on to the developers and see what they say.

In the mean time, the workaround is to switch off dither in the Quality tab of preferences.

Re: MP3 Export Crash

Try closing Audacity, then deleting the audacity.cfg file - it's a hidden file in: Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacity Then restart Audacity and go into the Import/Export section of Preferences (from the Edit menu) and manually tell Audacity where the correct LAME encoder dll is.

Re: Question

You should be able to still run Audacity if you download the 1.3.7 beta ZIP file. See this page: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows Note that it is not possible to use the "centre pan removal" method for deleting vocals on MONO files. Since I thought that you would have problems...

Re: Getting filename from songs.

i cant seem to find any supporting documents that would enable me to print the filename of the sound file i am using. You will need to do that from user input as Audacity does not pass that information to Nyquist. ;nyquist plug-in ;version 2 ;type analyze ;name "A-test" ;action "test...

Re: bad recording

Laptop PCs audio inputs are usually rubbish, but I hear from everyone that on Macs they are really rather good (not sure if that justifies the price of a Mac though, but that's just me being tight). On a Mac, I would certainly try recording directly from tape out to line in and cut out the USB. Reco...
