Re: RCA to USB cables
The only problem I have had with it was when I tried recording a live stereo mix off of an Allen Heath ML4000 mixer, this device fed digital noise into the main speakers in the auditorium and monitors. I've also had the issue of digital noise coming through a Behringer UCA 202, but in my case at le...

Re: How to export in CCITT A-law wav, 8bit, 8kHz
Audacity 1.3 supports Microsoft A-LAW (identified by the Audio Code 0x0006) which as far as I know is the same as "CCITT A-Law". I don't know about 1.2.6 (not had it installed for quite a while now). Audacity 1.3.7 also supports ffmpeg encoder, which provide support for many file formats. ...

Re: SaveHqMaster1 & 2 explanation & do i have to "export"?
I think what your asking is "does any "resampling" take place. The answer to that is, if the audio is a 32 bit wav file, and is exported as a 32 bit wav file, then it does not get resampled. In all other cases it does, however, the losses involved when, for example, dealing with 16 bi...

Re: file recovery
With the later Audacity 1.3 version, Audacity will usually do a pretty good job of recovering automatically. With the older 1.2 version, a bit more effort is required and there are no guarantees. One important thing is that if you restart Audacity, it will probably report "orphaned files" ...

Re: SaveHqMaster1 & 2 explanation & do i have to "export"?
"SaveHqMaster2" does not seem to be documented anywhere, but I think it is to do with the "CleanSpeech Mode". CleanSpeech Mode is customisation of Audacity by Lynn Allan with limited menu options. It's mainly used for quick clean-up and MP3 export of a number of speech recordings...

Re: Only SKF file saved on long recording
You have probably not received a reply because "skf" is not an audacity file type. What makes you think that Audacity has created an skf file?

Re: A question about combining cut mp3 parts
So do I need to convert the mp3 to WAV? When you import any audio into Audacity (MP3, WAV, Flac... any format supported by Audacity), it is converted to uncompressed audio data suitable for editing. The source files that you import into Audacity should ideally be WAV format. WAV is an uncompressed ...

Re: Steps from dry recording to finished mix?
There will be no latency issues as they are only of concern while recording - since all of the tracks are already recorded, latency is not a concern. Important things that will affect your success: Speed of hard drive access - You need LOTS of free disks space. At 32 bit, 48kHz 16 tracks you will ne...

Re: System Crash
Ever thought of trying Linux on that machine? In case you didn't know, you can test drive Linux without installing it as most versions of Linux can be run directly from the CD (this is known as using a "Live CD") The standard Ubuntu installation CD can be used in this way - it runs nicely ...

Re: missing selection bar
When will this work! I am going bonkers! OK, don't panic - you're not as bonkers as you may think (probably ;) ) The Export procedure in Audacity 1.3.7 has changed, and looks a bit funny at first. I've been assured that there are good reasons for the change (and I believe them) but I think it is st...
